hello

the idea of self-promo for the last few years has felt a bit unbearable tbh, but i have some upcoming things I should tell you about, plus some things I should catch you up on. getting it all out in one go:

✨ EVENTS

I will be on a panel about writing for young people with Nevo Zisin and Michael Earp, chaired by Liz Sutherland. You buy a ticket for the whole day and go to whatever panels you’d like.

The whole day looks really cool and fun. How nice that it exists!!!! Thanks to Sam Elkin for organising such a thing 😊

Festival of the Photocopier - Feb 9
https://fotp.online/

It’s Sticky Institute’s annual FOTP zine fair babey!!! The zine fair is on the 8th and 9th, I will be there on the 9th because of the aforementioned Trans Book Festival being the day before. Hoping to have a few new zines this year.

✨ TO READ

Rafeif Ismail and I launched a new journal!!!!! It’s all speculative fiction by artists in Aotearoa and so-called australia. Issue one has art, poetry and short stories in it (plus one story has an accompanying soundtrack!). They’re all great. If you love SFF please check it out!

Michael Earp and I edited an anthology. It’s a great book!!!! Seven works by trans authors - Michael and I plus Madison Godfrey, Maddison Stoff, Alexander Te Pohe, Mia Nie and Vika Mana. It’s got a whole range of stuff - mostly speculative fiction, includes a comic and a verse novella.

My story is CHANGELINGS and is about aliens, loneliness, friendship and the X-Files. Set in the 90s, feat. media piracy.

A short story about maybe the end of the world, but in a chill way. Also, anxiety.

✨✨✨

I think that might be all on the me-front, which is good. And that is all for now on the newsletter-front too I think. I will do a proper one soon but this is just ripping off the “haven’t sent a newsletter in two? three? years” bandaid. thank you for reading, maybe I will see u at an event!
